MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
PLANNING COMMISSION
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
May 12, 1988
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the
Planning Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was
held on the 12th day of May, 1988 in the Council Chambers of the
City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City.
Acting Chairman Gene DeLonais called the meeting to order at 7:30
P.M. and the following members of the Commission were present at
roll call:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Gene DeLonais, Acting Chairman
Bill Davison
Art Herkenhoff (arrived 7:55 P.M.)
Peggy Schweizer
Tom Perlinger
MEMBERS ABSENT: Peter Costa, Chairman
ALSO PRESENT: Ken Roberts, City Planner
Kathy Glanzer, Recording Secretary
Minutes There being no corrections to the April 14, 1988 Planning Commission
meeting minutes, the minutes were approved as read.
Fleisch- Mr. Mark Fleischhacker appeared before the Commission requesting approval
hacker of a front yard setback variance so that he can replace a loading dock
Front Yard on his building located at 3203 Rice Street. Fleischhacker reported that
Setback the State put in a new bridge in the area and during construction his
Variance loading dock needed to be removed. Fleischhacker also reported that as
part of the bridge project he lost 22 feet of depth of his lot. The
original loading dock was 14 feet by 22 feet. Fleischhacker asked for
approval to replace the loading dock with one that is 12 feet by 24 feet.
The loading dock would then be two feet from the property line. At the
property line, the State has a retaining wall which is approximately 6
feet high with a 4 or 5 foot fence on top.
Ken Roberts, City Planner reviewed the Building Inspector's letter dated
May 12, 1988 which deals with Fire Code violations on the property.
Roberts reported that if the Commission choses to approve the variance,
the recommendations of the Building Inspector can be required to be met
as a condition of approval. However, if the Commission does not make
the approval subject to the Building Inspector's recommendations, the
property owner will probably be required to adhere to these recommendations
anyway in order to meet Fire Codes.
The Commission felt it not necessary to make the Building Inspector's
recommendations a part of the variance approval, since the recommendations
will have to be complied with anyway under Fire Codes.
Page 1
