PARK COMMISSION
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
515 LITTLE CANADA ROAD
LITTLE CANADA, MN 55117
August 23, 1984
The regular meeting of the Park Commission of the City of Little Canada
was held on the 23rd day of August, 1984.
The following members were present: Elaine Zoch, Carl Spooner, Bev Scalze,
Lois Runyon, Bill Sanders, Dan Drake, & Jim Morelan.
Discussion on the Planning Commission concerns regarding park lands in the
City. It was decided that when the Park Commission updated the comprehensive
plan next year that we would go to a Planning Commission meeting to explain
the proposed plans. In the meantime, we would like to exchange meeting
minutes with them to better understand their concerns and so that they can
understand our concerns.
After much discussion, the Park Commission agreed to express these thoughts
to the City Council regarding the ball field complex.
The City needs to make a determination that the ball field is a City need or
concern and the Park Commission views the ball field complex acquisition as
primarily a recreational facility. The Park Commission's interest is primarily
to establish a small park within the ball field complex after the ball field
complex is established. For these reasons, the Park Commission would be
willing to fund only part but not all of the land cost and some of the land
dedication fees could be used.
Even though the Park Commission realizes the need for the City to have their
own City ball fields, the Park Commission feels that this is primarily a
recreational facility and does not come under the Park Commission jurisdiction.
The budget as stated was moved by Elaine Zoch and seconded by Dan Drake. Passed.
The next meeting will be held on September 20, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. at the
City Center.
These minutes were submitted to the City Center on August 24, 1984.
Respectfully submitted,
Lois Runyon, Recording Secretary
kg
2`
