I am a self - starter and achievement oriented. I use an <br />analytical approach to problem solving while retaining a sense of <br />urgency for task completion. In addition I work well with other <br />people and, as a leader, am effective in gaining the cooperation of <br />others. <br />CAREER EXPERIENCE <br />1972 to 1984 City of Minnetonka, Minnetonka, Minnesota <br />Director of Inspection and Licenses: Responsible for supervising <br />the inspection of all construction projects as well as the issuance <br />of all licenses for the City. I supervised a staff of 18 <br />inspection, clerical and custodial personnel in the inspection of <br />building construction, electrical, HVAC and plumbing as required by <br />the appropriate regulations and statutes. In addition I was <br />responsible for housing rehabilitation, zoning administration and <br />environmental health. While reporting to the City Manager, I <br />functioned as liaison and advisor to the City Council and other <br />boards and commissions in the development of program and <br />administration reviews and revisions as well as interpretation and <br />review of code and ordinance proposals. In addition, I was the HRA <br />Director for approximately four years and responsible for studying <br />and implementing the Block Grant Funding Program as well as the <br />environmental program. Additionally, I was later given the <br />responsibility for the approval and issuance of all licenses within <br />the City for liquor, food, contractors, taxi, peddlers, etc. <br />- Assumed position of City Safety Director - initiated <br />and implemented a city -wide safety program complying <br />with OSHA standards. <br />- Developed microfilming procedure now being used by all <br />departments within the City. <br />- Administered a program with the federal government for <br />certain qualified cooperative community projects <br />making it possible for the City to receive funds of <br />over $250,000 annually. <br />- Encouraged a data processing study for all departments <br />and a consultant was hired to complete the program. <br />- Working with other state agencies I developed a <br />workable environmental program which resulted in the <br />development of a whole new area of departmental <br />responsibility - that of licensing of all food <br />handlers and establishments within the City. This was <br />a self sufficient cost sustaining program. <br />10 <br />
