My education consists of 2 1/2 years of college, School of Forestry at the University of Minnesota. I have served a four -year carpenter apprenticeship involving 800 hours of schooling in the various phases of building construction. I have attended numerous seminars for continuing education in both building inspection and planning and zoning. I am a State - Certified Building Official (Certification enclosed.) Also, I am a qualified Federal Civil Service Construction Inspector. I have been in the construction field 26 years, 18 of the 26 years as a general contractor. At the present time I am the Building /Health Official for the City of East Bethel. I have held this position since March of 1983. I have written a new Zoning Ordinance and have just finished the final draft. My duties as Building /Health Official include all building, plumbing and on -site sewer system permits and inspections. All sewer systems in the city are "on- site" systems. I am also the laiason between the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council. The dollar volume of pet.mits for 1983 in East Bethel was $4 1/2 million. I was the building official, plumbing inspector and Zoning Administrator for the City of Princeton from February, 1979 to March of 1983. When I was Princeton's building /zoning official, I, together with the Planning Commission, authored a new Zoning Ordinance which has proven to be very effective. I wrote all the resolutions and ordinances pertinent to approved Planning Commission recommendations. I also worked with consultants in obtaining Community Development Block Grants and Urban Development Action Grants. I processed all Conditional Use, Variance and Subdivision requests and provided building, subdivision and zoning information to the public. Previous to my employment In Princeton, the Building Official was a part - time position. After being employed at Princeton, it was my job to set up a building and zoning department with appropriate ordinances. Because of the workload in Princeton, it wasn't necessary to have a lot of people under my supervision,,but as a General Contractor I had from 18 to 25 in my employ. I was responsible for the Planning Commission agendas and presenting Planning Commission recommendations to the City Council at their meetings.
