PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS
PROJECT TITLE: Little Canada Daycare
BCD PLAN NO: 84159
CH7 OF
LITTLE CAN
PLAN REVIEWED BY: Wayne Stevens
Supervisor, Plan Review
The continents listed below refer to documents that make up the Minnesota State
Building Code. Certain code deficiencies may not have been included in this
report, but that shall not be construed as an approval of such code deficiencies.
This review does not relieve the Building Official from checking the documents
for compliance with the requirements of the Building Code.
1. Reviewing the project for compliance with UBC Section 104(b),
the type of construction of the existing building was not indicated
on the documents, for this review, it is assumed to be V -N.
2. The floor area of the existing E -3 Occupancy is 5,500 sq. ft.
This information was provided by the owner Tom Krejci. The architect
shall verify if this is correct.
3. The B -2, A -3 portion of the building is 5,000 sq. ft. per floor.
This was taken from the plot plan, the architect shall verify
if this is correct.
4. The E Occupancy and B -2 Occupancy shall have a 1 hour occupancy
separation.
5. This wall is required to be a 2 hour area separation wall for
allowable area requirements. See UBC Section 505(e) for area
separation wall requirements.
6. It is our understanding the two portions of the existing building
have not been separated by a property line because of ownership,
therefore the building is being reviewed for code requirements
as one building.
7. The new addition requires two complying exits. The new entryway
shall be separated from the existing building corridor by a one
hour rated wall and 20 minute doors. It is assumed that the existing
building corridor is not a complying exit system.
8. The new addition shall be provided with approved
dtfir 8alarnd
system that complies with NFPA 72 -A -75, see
UBC Section 809.
9. Submit a copy of energy calculation in compliance with the Minnesota
Energy Code.
10. The type of insulation over the metal deck was not specified.
Foam plastic insulation is required to be protected in accordance
with UBC Section 1712.
WS :p
7
