NORTHWEST ASSOCIATED CONSULTANTS INC.
MEMORANDUM
TO: Little Canada Mayor and City Council
FROM: David Licht ''P
DATE: 19 December 1983
RE: Little Canada Zoning Ordinance Revision -
Manufactured Housing
FILE NO: 758.09 - 83.18
JAN 5 1984
CITY OF
LITTLE CANADA
You have previously been supplied with a draft manufactured housing amend-
ment to the Zoning Ordinance which is directed towards complying with
mandated state legislation. The draft was taken from a Blaine example
and is quite restrictive in its provisions.
Mr. Locke has questioned the initial draft and stated that it will likely
cause problems for conventional stick built housing. Furthermore, within
the last several weeks, he has received a new set of recommended standards
from the International Conference of Building Offices entitled Guidelines
for Manufactured Housing Installation (1983). (Mr. Locke has copies of
these guidelines available for review by City officials interested in looking
over the material.) Mr. Locke has suggested that these standards, as well
as a minimum width of 22 feet be the extent of regulations adopted.
From our perspective, this matter is a policy question which the City
Council must resolve as to the extent of restrictions to be imposed.
For the Council's consideration we have, however, drafted a proposed
amendment which follows Mr. Locke's suggestion.
cc: Joseph Chlebeck
Ed Locke
Tom Sweeney
Planning Commission
1
4820 minnetonka boulevard, suite 420 minneapolis, mn 55416 612/925 -9420
