TO:
MEMORANDUM
Little Canada Planning Commission
FROM: David Licht
DATE: 2 February 1984
NORTHWEST ASSOCIATED CONSULTANTS
RE: Little Canada Zoning Ordinance Revision - Incorporated
Duplex in R -1 Districts 4820 Minnetonka Boulevard, Suite 420
FILE NO: 758.09 - 84.01 Mpls., Mn. 55416 612/925 -9420
As background to our report on the one in ten twin home issue which will be issued through
the City with your agenda material, we are forwardTh) several pieces of information.
The first item attached is from the Building Code which identifies dwelling unit size
minimums. We thought this might be of benefit in considering a maximum unit size
approach in accommodating mother -in -law apartments.
The second attachment is a copy of the White Bear Lake Code which also permits a sub-
ordinate apartment in a low density single family district. While this code offers some
good ideas, there are also several points which we question on an enforcement basis. These
are noted in the margin.
We anticipate yet receiving information which pertains to this issue from the Metropolitan
Council as well as the City of Cottage Grove. Once this additional information is available
we will provide it to you.
cc: Joseph Chlebeck
Tom Sweeney
Ed Locke
26
FEB 3 V234
LITTLE C.`vNNAD:A
