ARLENE M. VICKERS
ATTORNEY AT LAW
1678 RIDGEWOOD LANE
SAINT PAUL. MINNESOTA 55113
PHONE 16121645 -3770
January 24, 1989
Mayor Michael Fahey
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117
Dear Mayor Fahey:
Enclosed is a copy of the application I submitted for appointment
to the Metropolitan Council as the representative for District 3,
the seat being vacated by Mr. Chuck Niger. I am asking for
endorsement of my appointment by the City of Little Canada.
I had originally endorsed Mr. Wiger for reappointment, and learned
only recently of his withdrawal from consideration. I would like
the opportunity to continue the fine representation that Mr. Wiger
has provided for our area by continuing to meet regularly with
you and the other Council members and conveying your ideas and
concerns to the Met Council.
I am practicing law on a parttime basis. Consequently, I would
have ample time to devote to the responsibilites of the position.
My legal background and community experience would enable me to
identify metropolitan matters that impact on our District 3 and
to effectively communicate with the Met Council on Little Canada's
behalf.
Your letter of endorsement should be sent to:
Mr. Vance K. Opperman
Chair, Metropolitan Council Nominations Committee
100 Washington Ave. So.
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55401
The public hearing for our district is being held on Wednesday
of this week. I anticipate the deliberations of the nominating
committee could begin as early as Friday. In light of this,
you should submit your endorsement letter at your earliest possible
convenience.
I am enclosing a list of those who have endorsed me,together
with copies of some of the endorsements I have received to date.
I will continue to pursue other endorsements as well.
Thank you for your kind consideration.
Yours very truly,
a, -» .
Arlene M.
