Mr. Vance K. Opperman
Chairman Metropolitan Nomination Committee
100 Washington Ave. S.
Mpls. MN. 55401
January 20, 1939
Dear Mr. Opperman,
I understand that your comittee is in the process of
studying the qualifications of the nominees for the
Metropolitan Council seats that are being vacated. My
long time associate Arlene Vickers has put her name in nomi
nation and I would like to urge the committee to recommend
her for appointment.
I have been active in the Roseville area League of Women
Voters for five years. I have been very involved in the
Solid Waste Advisory Committee for Ramsey County and the
City of Little Canada's Curbside Recycling program and it's
present efforts to organize collection. I have worked with
Chuck Weger on planning and advising on these issues. He
has been more than helpful to the Roseville League over the
years. My experience in this area and my knowledge of the
way Arlene works and her many community interests gives me
reason to urge you to recommend her for appointment to the
Met. Council.
Arlene has served on the Roseville Area League of Women
Voters Board with me for several years. She has been Action
Chair while I was secretary and then Social Policy Chair.
She and I have worked together on numerous League functions
and I have found her to be an especially articulate,
intelligent and thoughtful leader. She not only is able to
organize, delegate and get the job done; she is a good
listener and a fair and moderate voice of reason.
I have every confidence that Arlene is an excellent
candidate for the Metropolitan Council post for District 3.
Please recommend her for appointment.
Thank you for considering Arlene Vickers for the
Metropolitan Council.
Sincerely Yours,
Kathleen Tipier
PAGE -8
