Office of:
JOSEPH G. CHLEBECK, Clerk
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minn. 55117
484-2177
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
MEMORANDUM
TO: Joe Chlebeck
FROM: Mike Fahey
DATE: May 11, 1989
RE: Palmen Addition
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
As a follow -up to the Palmen Addition, please conduct a
survey by the next Council meeting on what other Cities in
our area do on the issue of watermains to new
developments. That is, do surrounding Cities allow a new
development to go in without a City approved water system.
Please check Vadnais Heights, Maplewood, Roseville,
Shoreview, White Bear and any other adjacent communities
you can think of so that we have input in formulating a
policy.
By carbon copy of this letter to Tom Sweeney, I am asking
him to confer with John Palacio and look at the Uniform
Fire Code, Division III, Section 10.301(c) and 10.301(d) to
determine if the City has the legal authority to overrule a
requirement imposed by the Fire Chief under those
sections. Specifically, if the Fire Chief's determination
is that a residential development should not be approved
without extension and looping of the water system, does the
Council have the authority to overrule that determination.
Tom, we would like you to be up to speed on this question
at our next meeting as well.
Thanks for your assistance.
MIF:bj
Page 26
0433-@
