INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILING AN APPLICATION FOR <br />FLOOD HAZARD MITIGATIGN GRANT ASSISTANCE <br />Applications for Flood Hazard Mitigation Grant Assistance for Fiscal Year <br />1990 -1991 will be accepted until September 30, 1989. Local government units <br />should contact their respective Area Hydrologist (see attached map) to develop a <br />grant application. Successful applicants will be notified no later than <br />December 31, 1989. One half of the available funds will be distributed at this <br />time. The remaining funds will be available after September 15, 1990. <br />Applications under this program can not request more than $75,000 of state <br />cost - sharing assistance and the requested amount must be matched by local funds <br />and /or in -kind services. For federally sponsored projects the state share can <br />not exceed one -half of the non - federal share of project costs. For projects <br />where the requested state share of costs will exceed $75,000 please contact your <br />Area Hydrologist. The larger projects require legislative approval. <br />The following 12 questions must be filled out in a manner that will allow for an <br />evaluation of the application and allow for a comparison of your application <br />with all other applications. Applications that are incomplete or provide <br />inadequate information will not be considered during the current funding cycle. <br />If engineering or planning studies have been completed that provide the answers <br />to questions 1 -5, the application may reference the appropriate pages of the <br />report, provided that a copy of the report accompanies the application. <br />Questions 6 -12 must be completed on the application forms provided. Additional <br />pages may be attached to fully answer Questions 1 -12. <br />Applications that are incomplete or inadequate will be returned to the applicant <br />with a brief explanation of what improvements are needed. These applications <br />may be improved and submitted for consideration during a future funding cycle. <br />Applications that do not receive high enough priority during this funding cycle <br />to receive funding will be returned with suggestions to improve the priority <br />ranking in future cycles.
