Minnesota Department of Revenue <br />Setting and Reporting Dates of Public Budget Hearings <br />Sequence of events and assignment of reporting responsibilities <br />July 28, 1989 <br />(Numbered for reference) <br />-^ <br />JUL 31 1989 <br />CITY OF <br />LITTLE C, \NAD1 <br />r <br />'\ rr. -.. <br />1 First, the county board will determine the date of the cot%nMpublic budget <br />hearing for property, taxes payable in 1990 and the date for reconvening the <br />meeting if recessed 'and will notify the county auditor of the date set for the <br />public budget hearing and the date set for reconvening the meeting if recessed. <br />2 Second, the county auditor will then notify the superintendent of each school <br />district whose administrative headquarters is located within the county of the <br />date set for the county public budget hearing and the date set for reconvening the <br />meeting if recessed and the county auditor will request that each school board set <br />a date for the school district's public levy hearing for its property tax levy for the <br />1990 -1991 school year hearing and a date for reconvening the meeting if recessed. <br />3 Third, each school board will set the date for the school district's public levy <br />hearing and a date for reconvening the meeting if recessed and will notify the <br />auditor of the county in which the school district's administrative headquarters <br />is located of the date set for the public levy hearing and the date set for <br />reconvening the meeting if recessed. <br />4 Fourth, the county auditor will notify the mayor of each city having a population <br />over 2,500 of the date set by the school board for the public levy hearing of the <br />school district in which the city is located and the date set for reconvening the <br />meeting if recessed, and the county auditor will request that each city council set <br />a date for the city's public budget hearing and a date for reconvening the meeting <br />if recessed. <br />5 Fifth, each city council of a city having a population over 2,500 will set the date <br />for the city's public budget hearing for property taxes payable in 1990 and for <br />reconvening the meeting if recessed and the mayor will notify the county <br />auditor of the county in which the city is located of the date set for the public <br />budget hearing and the date set for reconvening the meeting if recessed. <br />Page 122 <br />
