This amount includes costs advanced of $1,920.79, and legal services rendered relative to the items we categorized on our billing statements as special projects, litigation, general prosecution, and gross misdemeanor prosecution. Some of these items categorized as special projects are charged to funds other than the general fund. For example, legal services rendered relative to the acquisition of park land and expansion of City facilities are $6,767.00, which I assume are not charged against the general fund, but are included in the above total. Similarly, legal fees relative to the improvement projects are charged to the public improvement funds and are not included in the above total. However, to the extent that legal services relative to the general fund categories continue at the same level throughout the remaining five months of 1989, a budget adjustment will be necessary. Our present Retainer Agreement provides for a monthly retainer for civil work in the amount of $1,345.00. Once again, our time records indicate that more time is being spent on the routine civil work and also our overhead has increased substantially since last year. Therefore, I am proposing that the 1990 budget include a monthly retainer for civil work in the amount of $1,480.00. Page 2
