firAS s `l-
SSOCIATES, I
Consulting Engln..rs —land Survoyan
August 9, 1989
CITY COUNCIL •
515 East Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55115
RE: REAR YARD SWALES IN THUNDER BAY AREA
Dear Councilmembers:
500 West Highway 96
St. Paul, Minnesota 55126
4843301
We have surveyed the rear yard ditches in the Thunder Bay area and
have drawn profiles of the existing ground line.
Three of the four ditches surveyed are close enough to the original
grade to make any adjustment unwarranted. If these ditches were kept
clean and mowed, there would be no problem. Some lots are trimmed
to the rear lot line and others are not. We see in some places that
cottonwood trees are almost 8 feet high. If these were cut down
and the area kept mowed and free of debris, the ditches can be
maintained. If not, these trees can grown 50 feet high in a short
time.
The fourth ditch ( #1) North of Allen between Thunder Bay and Ontario
has been filled in by construction currently on Ontario.
We are discussing this with the building official as to the status of
occupancy permits of the various houses involved.
Yours truly,
Donald 0. Carley, P.E.
Vice President
DOC /kt
Page 20
