MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
NOVEMBER 10, 2005
Canada Road. Heffron felt that if the tattoo parlor were IocaCed on the
south end of the building, he would agree with the comments about the
residential location.
Rheaume stated that he did not have a problem with the proposal,
especially with the addition of the licensing requirement. Rheaume noted
the other businesses in the area and felt that Che tattoo studio would not
negatively impact the area.
Wojcik felt that the concerns voiced this evening reflected the stigmas
attached to tatCOO studios. Wojcik indicated that this is a reputable
business. He also did not understand the concern about a school bus stop
being located near the studio. He noted the hours of operation are
proposed at 12 noon to 8 p.m.
Wojcik recommended approval of the Text Amendment allowing tattoo
parlors as a Conditional Use in the General Business District and a
Conditional Use Permit allowing Beloved Ink Co operaCe a CaCCOO parlor at
2760 Lakeshore Avenue as requested by Brandon Heffron contingent
upon compliance with the recommendations of the City Planner as listed
for Option #1 in his report and contingent upon the CiCy Council
considering a licensing requirement for tattoo studios.
Motion seconded by Socha.
Motion failed 2 - 3. Wojcik and Socha voted in favor. Duray, Rheaume,
and Hall voted against.
VARIANCE The Vice Chair noted the application of Mike and Heidi Murphy, 601
TOR SECOND East County Road B-2, for a Variance allowing a second driveway
CURB CUT - curb cut for their property.
601 EAST
COUNTY Mike Murphy reported that they are requesting the second driveway
ROAD B-2 - curb cut for safety reasons, noting the elevation of County Road B-2
MURPHY as it passes their property as well as the amount of traffic on the sheet.
Murphy reported that they have two small children and have concerns
with backing vehicles out of their driveway onto County Road B-2. Their
preference would be to pull directly out onto the street. Murphy noted that
in designing the horseshoe driveway, they were working to retain a large
pine on their property. Murphy noted that they started work on the
horseshoe driveway prior to finding out that they would need a variance to
have one. Murphy pointed out that horseshoe driveways are very common
in the area and submitted a listing of several that exist.
-6-
