(f) Public Facilities. <br />The Authority may maintain and operate a public <br />parking facility or other public facilities to promote <br />development in an economic development district. Minn. <br />Stat. 1469.101, Subd. 13. <br />(g) Government Agent. <br />The Authority may cooperate with or act as an agent <br />for the federal or state government in the area of <br />economic development district improvement. Minn. Stat. <br />1469.101, Subd. 14. <br />(h) Acceptance of Public Land. <br />The Authority may accept conveyances of land from <br />all other public agencies, commissions, or other units of <br />government if the land can be properly used by the <br />Authority in an economic development district. Minn. <br />Stat. 1469.101, Subd. 17. <br />(i) Development and Improvement. <br />The Authority may carry out EDA law to develop and <br />improve land in an economic development district. The <br />Authority may fill, grade and protect property and do <br />anything necessary and expedient after acquiring property <br />in an economic development district to make it suitable <br />and attractive for development. Minn. Stat. 1469.102 <br />Subd. 18. <br />2. Powers that need not be exercised within or in <br />conjunction with an Economic Development <br />District. <br />The Act also grants to Authorities various powers that <br />need not be exercised within or in conjunction with an <br />economic development district. These powers are a great deal <br />broader than those outlined above, and they represent the true <br />value of an economic development authority to a City. These <br />powers include not only those granted directly by the EDA <br />sections of Chapter 469, but also those granted to an <br />Authority by cross- reference to other sections of Chapter 469. <br />The Authority also has the power to issue various types of <br />obligations. <br />9 <br />Page 11 <br />
