District Engineer - Metropolitan District Minnesota Department of Transportation Transportation Building St. Paul, Minnesota 55155 SUBJECT: S.P. 6280 -274 (TH 35E) Landscaping at Intersection of I -35E and Little Canada Road Dear Mr. Crawford, MAYOR Michaol Fahey COUNCIL Bovarly Scales Bill Blosaner Rick Collovo Jim LOValle Thank you for giving the City of Little Canada an opportunity to review the landscaping plans for the intersection of 1 -35E and Little Canada Road. The City is looking forward to this project as an important part of a broader effort to beautify the entrance to the City as part of the Celebrate Minnesota 1990 program. The landscaping will be a very welcome improvement that will benefit both the City and the general public for many years to come. The City of Little Canada is also very interested in working with your office to replace the existing chain link fencing on the bridge with a decorative iron railing. A decorative railing would be more attractive and more compatible with the entrance improvements to the City. This is an opportune time to consider this improvement because it ties In so well with the other entrance improvements and the Celebrate Minnesota 1990 program. The City has budgetted $25,000 for entrance improvements, part or all of which could be considered for a decorative railing, perhaps on a matching basis with MNDOT. If you are interested in considering a joint effort to install a decorative railing, I would ask that you contact Bill Sanders (221- 0401), who is the City's Landscape Architect working on the project.
