Office of:
JOEL R. HANSON, Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
612- 484-2177
FAX: 612 - 484 -4538
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
MEMORANDUM
TO: Joel Hanson, Mayor and City Council
FROM: Dave Harris, Supt. of Public Works
DATE: April 25, 1990
RE: Little Canada Road Overlay
On Monday, April 23, I met with Ramsey County Public Works'
Engineers to discuss their capital improvement programs as
they pertain to the City of Little Canada and to discuss
the proposed overlay of Little Canada Road. They explained
to me that if they grind Little Canada Road, widen the
shoulders, and overlay the street with a two inch
bituminous mat, the project will be pushed so far down on
the capital improvements list that they will not look at
doing any more work on that road until the year 2002. The
proposed overlay and widening of the street will not
alleviate any of the ponding and run -off problems.
However, if we inform them right now that we would prefer
to have the road re- constructed and go along with their
original capital improvement program, within the next five
to six years, they will re- construct the road. Concrete
curbing and a storm sewer drainage system would be
installed to alleviate the ponding and run -off problems
that we are now experiencing.
It is my recommendation to proceed with re- construction
instead of just the bituminous grinding and overlay that
the County has scheduled.
As for the work on County Road D, I do not see any problem
with the grinding and overlay that the County wants to do
because the ditch system is already set up along that
street to alleviate the flooding and ponding problems.
DBH:kpv
Page 1
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
