Office of:
JOEL R. HANSON, Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
612.484 -2177
FAX: 612. 4844538
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: May 18, 1990
RE: Roseville Circulator Route Expansion Survey
On May 7, 1990 I met with Len Simich and Mike Kuehn of the
Regional Transit Board together with Jim Stellick and Mary
Anne O'Kane of Market Place. The purpose of our meeting
was to discuss the potential for extending the Roseville
Circulator route. The representatives of RTB gave us
different options we could pursue to achieve expansion of
the route. It consisted of different methods of surveying
our residents to determine our community's transportation
needs. The two methods discussed were a community -wide
survey covering all transportation issues with special
emphasis on the Roseville Circulator route or a targeted
survey to those in the area that the route could be
expanded to determine their interest in the use of the
Roseville Circulator.
After considerable discussion, it was the consensus of
those present that it would be in our best interest to do
the targeted survey due to factors involving timing and
cost. The goal of this survey would be to justify the
expansion of the route to the east side of 1 -35 utilizing
Little Canada Road, Noel Drive, LaBore Road, and
Centerville Road back to Little Canada Road. If the survey
results are favorable, it may be possible to expand the
route yet this summer.
The RTB will prepare the survey form and do the compilation
of the material. I anticipate our cost of this survey will
be between $500 and $1,000. The proposed survey format
will be available for Wednesday night's meeting.
If the Council is agreeable with this course of action, it
would be my recommendation that we authorize this survey
process as well as the funds needed to accomplish same.
JRH:kpv
PAGE44
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
GUI Messner
Rick Collova
Jim LaVaIle
