MINUTES
City Council
May 2, 1990
CONSTRUCTION
MANAGEMENT
(cont.)
* Construction management will not cost us any more
than general contracting. Ideally, it should save
us money.
Based on the status of the project today, it is not
too far along to prohibit value engineering.
* They have worked on three projects with Boarman &
Associates.
Adolfson & Peterson, Inc. was interviewed at 8:10 p.m.
Representing Adolfson & Peterson were Mr. Dave Hanson,
Mr. Joe Scott, and Mr. Dale Bisbee. It was noted that
Mr. Robert Coruzzi was not able to be present at this
evening's presentation. Mr. Coruzzi would serve as project
coordinator, Mr. Bisbee would be the on -site superintendent
and CM, Mr. Hanson would be providing assistance to Mr.
Bisbee and Mr. Coruzzi on front end work involving the
bidding process, and Mr. Joe Scott would be the head of
field operations, emphasizing quality control, site safety,
and scheduling.
Adolfson & Peterson did not do a formal presentation.
Rather it was an exchange of information between the City
Council and the firm.
At the conclusion of the interviews, considerable discussion
followed regarding the merits of construction management as
well as the strong points of each firm interviewed. Mr. Bob
DeBace was also present to discuss the need for additional
on -site inspection /monitoring of both projects. His
contention was that additional on -site inspections will be
needed irrespective of the construction management process
to ensure the City's interests are protected. It was the
consensus of the Council that this matter could be
considered at a later date although concern was expressed
about incurring additional costs.
Page 2
