HANSON, Administrator 515 Little Canada Road Little Canada, MN 55117 612- 484 -2177 FAX: 612 - 484 -4538 CITY OF LITTLE CANADA RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator DATE: June 5, 1990 RE: State of Minnesota's Cooperative Purchasing Venture (CPV) It is my recommendation that the City of Little Canada join the CPV program to take advantage of State negotiated contracts. The cost to join this program will be $315 if we pay prior to July 1. This fee will cover membership from July 1 through June 30, 1991. The advantages of joining this program are that the City can take advantage of State negotiated contracts to ensure maximum cost savings on purchases of certain products in addition to saving a significant amount of time in researching available vendors and prices. (Purchasing under CPV complies with State purchasing requirements.) With the Fire Station and City Hall building projects, there are some major ticket items that this program could offer us some significant advantages when purchasing decisions are made. Some of the items that I would anticipate we could purchase through the CPV program are phone systems, office furniture, and modular office panels. Many other items are also available under these contracts. The savings realized should more than justify the membership expense. If the Council agrees with my recommendation, we would need authorization to expend a $315 annual membership fee. After utilizing this program over the next 12 months, we will evaluate the savings realized to determine if continued membership is warranted.
