Harris, Public Works Superintendent 065y4._ <br />RE: Garbage Rate Increase <br />On August 1, 1990 the tipping fees at the Newport Facility for Ramsey <br />and Washington Counties are increasing from $49.93 per ton to $66.79 <br />per ton resulting in a $16.86 per ton increase, or .0084 cents per <br />pound. The new rates for service will be as follows: <br />30 Gal. <br />60 Gal. <br />90 Gal. <br />150 Gal. <br />Present <br />$ 9.13 <br />10.56 <br />11.56 <br />14.63 <br />New Increase <br />$10.22 <br />12.02 <br />13.38 <br />17.00 <br />$1.09 <br />1.46 <br />1.82 <br />2.37 <br />The increase in rates on August 1st is keeping within the language of <br />the contract, and there can be no more rate increases until January, 1991. <br />Our rates are very competitive and are actually lower than several of the <br />other cities that have organized collection. '(Right now North St. Paul's <br />rates are $17.41 for 150 gallon service and $12.69 for 90 gallon service. <br />White Bear Lake's rates will be $11.25 for 30 gallon service, $12.77 for <br />60 gallon service and $15.39 for 90 gallon service. White Bear Lake has <br />no 150 gallon service. White Bear Lake also charges each residence $3.00 <br />per month for cart rental.) <br />Page 10 <br />
