Hanson, City Administrator
RE: Soil Borings
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim Levalle
Paul Mickelberg of Boarman and Associates has obtained three
quotations for soil boring services needed for the fire station and
city hall expansion projects. The quotes to do the work as defined
by our architects are as follows:
Braun Engineering $2,800.00
Twin City Testing $2,650.00
GME Consultants $2,275.00
Mr. Mickelberg has indicated to me that all of the above firms are of
equal competency. Based on this report, I've told Paul to tell GME
to schedule the work so we can keep the projects moving.
The only issue I wanted to make the Council aware of is the limited
liability coverage available from these consultants. GME, for
example, limits their maximum liability to $20,000. It will cost an
additional $228 to obtain higher limits. (We were informed by one of
the above firms that only once in the last 10 years did someone
choose the higher coverage.)
While I feel this risk is minimal, the risk exists none - the -less.
The Council should provide direction as to their preference regarding
this matter.
Page 117
