I took quotations on fiberglass
service bodies as they are lighter, more durable, and the
life expectancy is three times that of steel. The price
differential is approximately $1,000. The two prices are
as follows:
ABM - $3,974.00
Truck Utilities - $4,245.00
These prices are the installed price F.O.B. My
recommendation is to purchase the utility service body from
ABM of Hopkins. These prices, however, do not include
trade -in of the box on the pickup truck. The dealerships
offered a $300 trade -in. The going rate at auto body shops
is $900. I believe that we should take the box off
ourselves and sell it outright for an asking price of $500
and put that money back in the fund towards the purchase
price.
DBH:kpv
Page 10
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
