Also enclosed
for your review is Tom Sweeney's memo of November 22, 1989 which
discusses this subject.
We notified all licensed charitable gambling entities about this
subject, including "one -time event" licensees. I've received a
couple of calls from these organizations expressing concern about
requiring them to expend a percentage of their fundraising profits in
the City. This seems to be a problem for the entities holding
gold -plate dinners in that their functions typically occur outside
the boundaries of the City. I told those calling that I did not know
if it was the Council's intent to regulate those activities, but we
wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to comment. Therefore,
some of these organizations may be represented at Wednesday's
meeting.
Lastly, we've obtained copies of the zoning maps for Roseville and
Shoreview. Due to the size of these maps, and the difficulty in
copying them in a ledgible manner, you may want to review them at the
office prior to the meeting. I will have them available for your
inspection at the front counter.
Page 83
