Also enclosed is a copy of a letter Mr. David Childs,
City Manager of New Brighton, distributed at a meeting attended by
representatives of the County and various municipalities.
In the upcoming Legislative Session, tax increment financing (TIF)
will come under close scrutiny. I feel it is in our best interests
to "enlighten" the County and State officials who want to negatively
impact this important economic development tool. It is also
important we work with County officials in an attempt to prevent
possible abuses of this tool.
My point in bringing this to your attention is to inform you of this
important issue. I also would recommend that a letter be sent to
Ramsey County officials seeking a cooperative avenue in addressing
the tax increment issue.
Page 91
