The
basis for collecting this information was the result of concern
regarding the current Ordinance standards. In this regard, the
following analysis is intended to provide the City of Little
Canada with a review of methods available to address and update
their landscaping Ordinance.
ISSUES AND ANALYSIS
An informal survey of landscaping standards was initiated for
areas surrounding Little Canada and other various cities. There
is no one specific approach that has been taken as a common
standard in the development of a landscaping requirement. In
general, however, many cities interviewed had similar approaches
to Little Canada in their landscaping and screening requirements.
However, given the communities surveyed, it is believed that a
fair representation of the various approaches confirms a lack of
consistent standards for landscaping and screening.
in general, the following standards may be considered
representative of the various landscaping requirements:
1. Screening /landscaping is usually required where a non-
residential use abuts a residentially zoned area.
Page 59
4601 Excelsior Blvd.• Suite 410 .Minneapolis, MN 55416($12) 925 -9420 •Fax 925 -2721
