Mr. Joel R. Hanson
February 26, 1990
page 2
Since 1977 the Lake Owasso Residence Volunteer Council (LORVC) has
been in existence for the purpose of improving the quality of life
for the clients who reside at Lake Owasso Residence (210 North
Owasso Boulevard). As stated in our charter this includes:
- establishing and maintaining a high quality teaching,
training and consulting organization intended to aid
development of mentally retarded individuals.
- assisting mentally retarded individuals and their families
through financial aid.
- providing quality individual and therapeutic group services
to mentally retarded individuals and their families.
To further clarify our Mission and to direct our charitable
gambling profits, our general membership has specified our
gambling expenditures to be directed as follows:
- personal and individual needs of the residents, to include,
food, clothing, shelter.
-Dorm and facility needs for Lake Owasso (does not to include
what must come from the facility budget).
- Recreation, activities and vacations.
- Operational costs associated with fund raising for Volunteer
Council.
The request to give Little Canada 50 -70% of our profit as a
condition of renewing our gambling license is to us, both legally
unjustified (as stated in our organization's Bi -laws) and morally
wrong.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to address this issue.
Sincerely,
t Thul,
President
Lake Owasso Volunteer Council
JT:BS:ptd
Page 4
Betty Strohbeen,
Gaming Manager
Lake Owasso Volunteer Council
