HANSON, Administrator <br />515 Little Canada Road <br />Little Canada, MN 55117 <br />612.484 -2177 <br />FAX: 612-484-4538 <br />WHEREAS, <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />PROCLAMATION <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />MAYOR <br />Michael Fahey <br />COUNCIL <br />Beverly Scalze <br />Bill Slesener <br />Rick CoUave <br />Jim LaValle <br />Alcohol and other drug abuse in this nation has reached epidemic <br />stages, and the 15 -24 year old age group is dying at a faster rate <br />than any other age group; and <br />WHEREAS, <br />It is imperative that visible, unified prevention education efforts <br />by community members be launched to reduce the demand for drugs; and <br />WHEREAS, <br />THE PARTNERSHIP and the NATIONAL FEDERATION OF PARENTS FOR DRUG FREE <br />YOUTH are sponsoring the National Red Ribbon Campaign offering <br />citizens the.opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to drug free <br />lifestyles; and <br />WHEREAS, <br />This annual Red Ribbon Campaign will be celebrated in every community <br />in America during "Red Ribbon Week ", October 20 -27, 1989; and <br />WHEREAS, <br />President George Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush are the National Honorary <br />Chairmen, and Governor and Mrs. Rudy Perpich are the State Honorary <br />Chairmen to provide this community focus on a Drug Free America; and <br />WHEREAS, <br />Business, government, law enforcement, schools, religious <br />institutions, service organizations, youth, physicians, senior <br />citizens, military, sports teams, and individuals will demonstrate <br />their commitment to drug -free, healthy lifestyles by wearing and <br />displaying red ribbons during this week -long campaign; and <br />WHEREAS, <br />THE COMMUNITY OF LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA further commits its <br />resources to ensure the success of the RED RIBBON CAMPAIGN; <br />P al• 1 <br />
