■
WATER-MAIN IMPROVEMENTS
Slumberland representatives have requested that the City provide water to
their property for a proposed. building expansion. The improvement is intended
to .provide sufficient water to the site for operation of a. sprinkler system
proposed for the building while maintaining sufficient water flow for fire
fighting purposes outside the building.
The proposed water main improvements are shown on Figure No. 1 at the back
of this report. We recommend that 900 feet of 12 inch diameter trunk water
main be placed from the existing 16 inch water main on Allen Avenue to the 10
inch water main on Desoto Street which currently extends 430 feet south of
Centerville Road.
The extension of the 12 inch water main along Desoto, in conjunction with
the placement of a 12 inch private line (to be placed by others) within the
Slumberland property will allow for a flow rate of 1500 gpm at a pressure of
60 psi as needed for the operation of the sprinkler system. An additional
1500 gpm at 60 psi would also be available outside the building for fire
fighting purposes. A total of 5000. gpm of water at a pressure of 20 psi would
be available at the site. The water main extension would loop the water
system in the Industrial Park which would result in an overall improvement in
water system reliability and flow capacity for the industrial park area.
- 3 -
