Little Canada Road Little Canada, MN 55117 Dear Mr. Hanson: I am responding to your advertisement in this weeks North Suburban Press for applicants to fill a vacancy on the City of Little Canada Park Commission. My resume is attached, but I would like to take this opportunity to focus on a few areas of special experience. On July 31, 1988 I retired from active duty with the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. -My family and I subsequently moved to Little Canada in September that same year. During my tour of duty I had the opportunity to serve on various councils at the unit and base level. For instance, I served on several morale and recreation councils where I represented the members of my unit on a base -wide council which advised the Morale, welfare, and recreation officials on the needs and desires of the base population. Additionally, I served on the Top-3 Council, made up of senior non - commissioned officers, who advised the unit commander on matters effecting the personnel in our unit and recommending events, activities and projects to improve the quality of life for our military and civilian personnel. I had the opportunity to serve as the founding President of a youth booster club formed to advise the youth recreation specialists in the type of activities desired by the youth served by Tinker AFB and find methods to raise funds to replace those lost through budget reductions. During the mid -point of my career I had the opportunity to serve on the communications staff of three U. S. Presidents while on an 8 year assignment at the White House. Not only was I responsible for supervising a team of highly trained communicators, linguists and cryptographers, I was on the travelling teams for the President, Secretary of State, and the National Security Adviser to the President. I have had the experience of working with high level officials of local, state, national and international governments, in coordinating the activities of the various governmental agencies in acquiring, recommending and procuring the necessary equipment and services to ensure the - success of the mission of the principal involved. I am married and have five children, two boys and three girls, in the age range four through fourteen. Four of them attend school right here in Little Canada. We use the park system and as a property owner support those parks. I am currently employed by Unisys as a Senior Systems Programmer in its Roseville plant. Page 22
