HANSON, Administrator 515 Little Canada Road Little Canada, MN 55117 G12.484 -2177 FAX: 612. 484 -4538 CITY OF LITTLE CANADA RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator DATE: September 7, 1990 RE: Country Drive Improvement Engineering Costs Attached is correspondence received from Mike Lynch of Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik & Associates regarding engineering costs associated with the Country Drive MSA road improvement project. Due to the fact that they took the project over in mid - stream, they are asking for a special arrangement regarding engineering fee reimbursement. You will note they are requesting their reimbursement to be based on hourly billing rates with the 1.3 multiplier to allow them an opportunity to recover insurance costs associated with liability and design. They have also agreed to set the maximum fee not to exceed at one half of the percentage applicable on their fee curve used in our contract. It is my opinion that this is a fair situation for both parties. It should be noted that to -date the City had spent $14,367.25 with Carley Engineering for the initial work on this project. Bonestroo's maximum not to exceed figure of $13,672.00 would bring the total engineering cost of this project to $28,039.25. This figure compares with the estimated cost of $27,343.00 utilizing our fee curve. I feel it is reasonable to expect engineering costs to be somewhat higher than normal due to the fact an engineering change was made during the course of the project.
