CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
Office of:
JOEL R. HANSON, Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
612- 484 -2177
FAX: 612-484-4538
April 19, 1991
TO: Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
RE: Water Works Trail
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaVaile
At its April 18th meeting, the Park Commission discussed
justification for development of a trail on the Water
Works property as requested by the City Council. Statistics
that were noted from the City's survey supporting this
development are as follows:
67% of Spooner Park users use the trail system;
45% of residents use existing trails frequently
or occasionally;
38% of residents favor trail extension even if
a tax increase were needed;
71% favor trail extension if no tax increase is
needed.
Ken Wehrle will be submitting a formal report from the
Park Commission which should be available for Wednesday's
meeting.
At this time City staff is putting together information
on maintenance costs of trails. At this time I feel that
the Council should treat this as an information item, until
all the information is available.
Page 119
