MN 3: NI <br />1 April 1991 <br />Little Canada Planning Commission <br />c/o Joel Hanson, City Administrator <br />City of Little Canada <br />515 Little Canada Road <br />Little Canada, MN 55117 <br />RE: Proposed Cellular Telephone Antenna, 5 East County Road B, Little Canada, <br />Minnesota <br />Dear Planning Commission Members: <br />This letter accompanies an application for a conditional use permit to locate a cellular <br />telephone antenna on property owned by Arthur and Georgianna Mueller. The application <br />is in the name of Minneapolis SMSA Limited Partnership of which the general partner is <br />U S WEST New Vector Group, Inc. (USWNVG), one of the regional holding companies <br />formed as a result of the break up of AT &T. Dahlgren, Shardlow, and Uban, Inc. has <br />been authorized by USWNVG to act as its representative for planning and zoning <br />matters. <br />Specifically, we propose to construct a 125 foot self- support tower, with one whip <br />antenna and nine 1' x 14' panel antennas mounted near the top. We also plan to <br />construct a 12' x 36' equipment building to house the cellular phone equipment. <br />The proposed project represents USWNVG's ongoing commitment to search for new and <br />innovative ways to integrate public service structures within commercial areas with little <br />or no impact on the surrounding community. <br />The Cellular Phone System <br />The primary users of cellular telephone service are members of the business community <br />and the public sector. The phone becomes a useful tool leading to increased <br />productivity. Doctors, builders, salespersons, business owners and executives all benefit <br />by using cellular phones. Additionally, cellular is extensively used in the public sector <br />principally by fire and police departments. Cellular allows police and others to conduct <br />discreet communication in the field. Citizens can contact "911" to report accidents, <br />fires or other emergencies.
