Mayor and City Council Members
Water Works Property Trail Development
Page Two
usage. Additional concerns about loss of wildlife in the corridor due
to trail development seem unwarranted given the amount of existing
usage.
For those who feel that we have too much recreational development in
general, including trails, the following statistics taken from the
Little Canada Residential Survey, April, 1988, are a clear indication
of the residents' support of trail development. These statistics
include:
*45% of the residents used existing trails;
*67% of users of Spooner Park used trails;
*70% of residents favored expansion of the trail system,
(38% of residents favored expansion of trail system
even if it resulted in a tax increse).
These statistics make it clear that trails are important to the residents
of Little Canada and we would urge you to support our recommendation to
develop the Water Works trail as part of our trail system.
