25t#4 `CJCeliegek
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
December 6, 1991
TO: Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant
RE: Gambling License Renewal
North Ramsey 500 Lions Club
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
I have contacted the State Gambling Control Board's Licensing
Division for clarification of the type of application that would be
needed by the North Ramsey 500 Lions Club in order to hold a gold
plate dinner at the Venetian Inn. The Division informs me that since
the Lions Club is a licensed organization, the Exemption from
Gambling License Application could not be used. Exemption forms
apply only to unlicensed organizations.
There are two options available for the Lions Club. One option is
renewal of the Class D license which the Lions currently hold within
the City of Little Canada. This is a 2 -year license and would allow
the Lions Club to hold unlimited numbers of gold plate dinners during
the two -year license period in the City of Little Canada with no
further review by the Council. The other option is for a One -Day
Off -Site Permit. This would allow the Lions to hold one gold plate
dinner within the City. The Licensing Division pointed out that
licensed organizations are only allowed one "One -Day Off -Site Permit"
each calendar year regardless of the number of cities in which they
hold gambling licenses.
,.Pa,g,e 2
