cJG Yet ' `CJC072Cd(CG
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: November 21, 1991
RE: Recommendations from Recreation Committee
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
8111 Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
On Wednesday, November 20, 1991, the Recreation Committee
consisting of Beverly Scalze, Gene DeLonais, Steve Morelan,
Ken Wehrle, and myself met to further discuss the issues
involving the restructuring of the Recreation Department.
Based on this meeting, our recommendations are as follows:
* All recreation fees are to be collected by the
City. It should be noted that the present $8 fee
now collected by Little Canada Recreation
Association (LCRA) is not new money.
* New program fees are to be established in order to
generate 100% of the increased staffing costs
associated with the use of full -time personnel and
assistants in the City's Recreation Department.
This recommendation is contingent upon the fact
that new fees must still be competitive with those
of other jurisdictions.
* When considering the use of revised program fees,
the 90% of existing participation level category
should be used to determine new revenues available
to offset increased costs ($20,486). It is noted
that at the 90% level, approximately $20,486 of
new revenue is generated. This will fund a
full -time position at a salary of $29,000 or less
and two assistants, or it would fund a salary of
up to approximately $35,000 for a full -time
position with one assistant, or it would fund a
salary of over $40,000 for a full -time position
with no assistants.
1516g 75
