2 <br />Supervise employees. <br />Assist /initiate selection activities. <br />Assess employee performance. <br />Supervise all full and part -time staff during the year. <br />Perform communication activities. <br />Respond to routine inquiries. <br />Receive and resolve complaints from public. <br />Authorize /release information. <br />Attend meetings, classes and seminars. <br />Design, compose, and edit material. <br />Design and produce communication material. <br />Compose written material. <br />Administer forestry program. <br />Job Analysis Knowledge and Skill Required <br />College degree in park and recreation administration or educational and personal <br />background that is needed to organize and direct an over -all recreational <br />and parks program for the community. <br />Past experience and numerous past recreational related jobs are needed to make for <br />a better supervisory person. <br />A good working knowledge of past programs and current park system. <br />Close working relationship with City Manager and City Council, and other City <br />departments. <br />Willingness to utilize citizen input. <br />Supervision Received <br />Accountable to City Manager. <br />Public Contact: <br />Because of the nature of the job, this is very important and on a continual basis. <br />Page 40 <br />
