Yet/4 ceanacia
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: March 21, 1991.
RE: Worker's Compensation Insurance Renewal
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is a copy of the renewal quotation for worker's
compensation through the League of Minnesota Cities'
Insurance Trust (LMCIT). This plan is administered by
Employee Benefit Administration Company. You will note
that the renewal premium for 1991 is $11,798. This is
compared to the 1990 figure of $10,307. The difference in
costs is due to higher estimated payroll costs and
increases in rates associated with each work classification
code. It should also be noted that part of this increase
has been offset by a reduction in our experience
modification from .88 to .75. This is an excellent
experience modification and I seriously doubt that we will
be able to maintain at this low level into the future.
No other quotations were received for this coverage due to
our review of this matter one year ago and due to the fact
that LMCIT's programs are very cost competitive. It should
also be noted that I had an alternate quote for the Fire
Department to include them under our coverage. However, it
appears that there is no economic advantage in doing this.
Therefore, it is my recommendation that we renew our
worker's compensation with LMCIT per the quotation
attached.
JRH:kpv
Enclosure
P 02
