Hanson
At the last Council meeting I informed you that repainting of
existing stackable chairs would cost $15.00 per chair. Concern
had been expressed about the durability of the paint and that
chipping of the new paint would eventually occur.
At the request of the Council, I also investigated the
possibility of upholstering existing public seating. However, I
have learned that this is not feasible due to the way the chairs
are constructed.
Given that there are potential uses for the existing stackable
seating (the old Fire Station, for example), I have obtained
pricing on upholstered stackable seating in addition to the
pricing I previously submitted for unupholstered seating.
Pricing for new stackable upholstered public seating ranges from
$58 per chair to $198. Based on the information received from
various venders, I feel the City would be able to purchase a
durable and attractive upholstered chair for somewhere between
$80 and $100 per chair.
The City currently has approximately 60 stackable chairs used
for public seating. If the Council's decision is to purchase
new upholstered seating, a decision will have to be made on
quantities as well.
Page 22
