RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL
ON 1991 WATER BUDGET
We received a 6.5% increase from St. Paul Board of Water
Commissioners. However, due to the acquisition of
Schroeder Milk, I believe that water rates can stay the
same at $1.50 per 1,000 gallons.
Due to the inequities of our present billing procedure
involving multiple family units (i.e. condominiums,
townhomes, apartments) I request that we go from the 80%
service charge which they are currently being billed, to a
100% service charge which puts them on the same basis as
mobile homes and all single family homes. An example of
this would be Canabury Condominiums at 100 units on the 80%
charge is $920. At the full 100% charge, they would be
billed $1,150, which means a $230 increase. This would put
them at the same level as the mobile homes and single
family homes for service charges thereby making it a more
equitable system for service charges.
RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL
ON 1991 SEWER BUDGET
I am requesting that we raise the rates $1.50 per quarter
to $34.00. The $1.70 per 1,000 on our commercial and
industrial accounts would stay the same. However, their
minimum bill for sewer would be at the $34.00 rate. Rates
of several of the surrounding cities are as follows:
Maplewood - $35.80 per quarter residential
Vadnais Heights - $36.00 per quarter residential
Shoreview - $33.14 per quarter residential
I feel the $34.00 would be in between the other cities'
rates and I believe it is very comparable.
Page 25
