MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 8, 1992 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Hanson. <br />Ayes (4) Scalze, Hanson, Blesener, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />FIRE DEPT. The City Administrator reported that a committee of the <br />BUDGET City Council met with representatives of the Fire <br />Department to discuss the remaining issue with the 1992 <br />Fire Department budget, that is the $10,000 in <br />additional compensation requested by the Fire <br />Department and potential funding sources. It is the <br />recommendation of the Council committee, as a result of <br />that meeting, that the City fund the $10,000 in <br />additional compensation. Funding sources would be <br />$1,500 that the Fire Department spent for an opticom <br />system be refunded for this purpose, and the opticom <br />funded from the building outlay budget. The remaining <br />$8,500 be funded through a reduction in the allocated <br />reserve in the 1992 General Fund budget. Therefore, <br />the 1992 Fire Department budget would increase from <br />$150,866 to $160,866. Proposed 1992 eneral Fund <br />reserves would decrease to $17,230. The Fire <br />Department contract amount for 1992 ill be $140,356, <br />and the City's contribution to the F're Relief <br />Association will be $12,000 for 1992. <br />Hanson reported that at the workshop with the Fire <br />Department, greater details were provided in the area <br />of the Fire Department's budget request. After careful <br />consideration and debate, the committee felt that the <br />$10,000 in additional compensation was justified. <br />Blesener agreed, and stated that the Council committee <br />members now have a better understanding of the Fire <br />Department's budget request. Blesener felt that this <br />was a meeting that should have been held prior to the <br />1992 Budget meeting. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92 -1 -17 - REVISING THE 1992 FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT BUDGET TO $160,886 AND THE GENERAL FUND <br />BUDGET ACCORDINGLY TO PROVIDE FOR THE INCREASE IN THE <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT'S BUDGET AS OUTLINED BY THE CITY <br />ADMINISTRATOR <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (4) LaValle, Blesener, Scalze, Hanson. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Page 1 <br />ANIMAL The City Administrator reported that at the direction <br />CONTROL of the City Council, staff has evaluated the City's <br />CONTRACT animal control services to see if there was the <br />
