The city's recreation program was`started'in 1955 bythe LCRA using all volunteer help. In 1966 the: city hired apart -time Director to handle the increasing work load....As the city grew',an Assistant Director was added in 1973 and, another in'1977.: ,T'his.arrangement has served the residents well.in the past: • Since 1977 we have seen participation in the recreation programs increase over 50%, and city oaiOO:park land.thich.tasnon- existent is now well over 60 acres..,. For these reasons.and countless others, it is the unanimous recommendation of the.LCRA: :to' :hirea full -time Parks & Recreation Director in11992. In addition ide believe that at least one part -time Assistant Director „(perhaps.even two) will be required to meet the demands of :'the residents. .Of course we realize that funding will be a p'roblem.':.But at the same time we believe that today's :youths aretomorrow.'sleaders, and we encourage you to look at the.
