Harris, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: April 17, 1992
RE: Conditional Use Permit For Suburban Auto Body
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaVaile
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
After reading the minutes from the Planning Commission
meeting of April 9th, 1992 and the Planner's Report to the
Planning Commission, I feel that there are a few items that
should be brought to your attention in regard to granting
the Conditional Use Permit. Enclosed with this memo are
pictures that were taken Friday, April 17th with regard to
the conditions I am about to describe.
In picture #1 it shows vehicles parked in the
right -of -way. This was taken at the corner of Country
Drive and South Owasso Boulevard. The area directly behind
the vehicles is not paved (Picture #2). Suburban Auto
Body is using the right -of -way for not only parking
vehicles, but access to the street. This is better defined
in picture #3. When South Owasso Boulevard was
constructed, the area where Suburban Auto Body employees
are parking was a grassy area, which has since been
destroyed. The width of the grassy area is defined in
picture #4.
In the winter time, with the vehicles parked in this
manner, it has made snowplowing hazardous as there is
nowhere to plow the snow onto the City's right -of- way.
When Suburban Auto Body plows their parking area, they
deposit the snow out on south Owasso Boulevard which not
only increases the driving hazards, it is also against City
Ordinances for which they have been sent letters in the
past.
Please consider this information when contemplating
conditions for the CUP.
DBH:slu
Page 774
