Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
On Monday, July 6th, Mayor Hanson, Council Member LaValle, Kathy
Glanzer and myself met to discuss gambling enforcement. Various
alternatives were discussed, and it was the consensus of the
committee to approach gambling enforcement through the use of City
staff at this time.
The committee discussed the approach that City staff would use, and
is recommending that both on -site inspections of pull -tab and bingo
operations, and spreadsheet analysis of monthly reports submitted by
the various organizations should be used.
The committee is also recommending that Kathy Glanzer take
responsibility for performing on -site inspections, as well as
preparation of spreadsheets. A checklist would be used in conducting
on -site inspections, a copy of which is attached for your review.
Spreadsheet analysis would be prepared monthly, and line items would
be compared for consistency. Any items which appear to be
out -of -line would be followed up on with a request of the particular
organization for an explanation and documentation. Monthly
spreadsheets would be submitted to the Council for their review.
The committee is also recommending that the City proceed with the
purchase of the necessary computer equipment that is needed to
conduct spreadsheet analysis. (This action was previously approved
by the Council.)
Page 6
