MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />June 1, 2006 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission <br />of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the ls` day of June, 2006 in the Council <br />Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said City. <br />Chair Tony Mans called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the <br />Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: <br />Mr. Tony Mans, Chair <br />Ms. Molly Boss <br />Ms. Pain Davis <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />Mr. David Gray, Vice-Chair <br />Ms. Clara Neis <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary <br />Mr. Brandon Rickert, Cable TV Producer <br />MUTES Davis reconcmended that t{:e minutes from the meeting held oa May 4, 2006 be approved as <br />submitted. <br />Motion: seconded by Boss. <br />Motion carried 4 - 0. <br />NADEAU Mans welcomed those attending the meeting and indicated that the meeting was being televised <br />WILDLIFE for broadcast on Cable Chamiel 16. He informed those attending that the Commission has <br />AREA talked about adding an observation deck at Nadeau Wildlife Area for several months. The <br />Commission felt the project would be a nice way to enhance the park for the community. Mans <br />informed the residents that the Commission's role is advisory in nature. The City Council <br />makes the final decisions on all projects. He commented that the challenge presented to the <br />Commission is to balance the needs of the greater Little Canada community with those of the <br />property owners adjacent to the park land. The purpose of the neighborhood meeting is to <br />inform the neighborhood about the project and to obtain comments on the proposal. Mans <br />pointed out that a recent survey of the community indicated that residents would like to see a <br />wildlife viewing platform within city limits. Several residents from the neighborhood were in <br />attendance at the meeting. <br />Sanders stated that Nadeau Wildlife Area is a 5-acre neighborhood park that contains a <br />children's play area off of Lake Street. The bulk of the site is a natural area containing wildlife <br />and wetland. The planned proposal is to extend the walking path from the play structure south <br />down to the wetland where it would end at a floating observation deck. The grade iu the area <br />would have to be changed due to its steep condition. He indicated that a few trees would need <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />
