207. COLLECTION OF ASSESSMENTS FOR IMPROVEMENTS <br />207.010. CHAPTER 1095, MINNESOTA STATUTES. The City of Little Canada deems it <br />necessary to enact this ordinance because the legislature of the State of Minnesota did in 1969, enact <br />Chapter 1095 whereby amendment was made to Minnesota Statutes, Section 429.061, Subdivision 3, <br />providing that the remaining balance of an assessment, if paid in advance of the regular scheduled <br />procedure for payment, shall be paid to the municipal treasurer. <br />207.020. AUTFIORITY TO ESTABLISH PROCEDURE. Whenever any property owner or <br />other person pays the remaining unpaid installments of any assessment for improvement which is <br />spread on the assessment rolls to be collected in annual increments with general taxes, such <br />assessment roll being available both at the central County computer service and also in the office of <br />the City Administrator, the County Treasurer and the County Auditor <br />are hereby authorized to establish whatever procedure is necessary to make possible the payment of <br />said balance to the said County officials in lieu of paying same to the municipal treasurer as provided <br />in Minnesota Statutes, 1967, Section 429.061, Subdivision 3, as amended. The said County officials <br />are hereby designated as agents for the City of Little Canada to collect such assessments and the <br />mechanics thereof shall be set up by the County Auditor, County Treasurer and the City <br />Administrator so that the intent and purpose of this ordinance can be accomplished. <br />207.030. PURPOSE. This ordinance is for the purpose of authorizing County officers to <br />collect remaining balances of assessments for improvements in order to afford property owners and <br />other members of the public the convenience of making such payment in the same place and in the <br />manner that they pay general taxes and installments of assessments. <br />(Amended: Ord. 81) <br />207 -1 <br />3 <br />
