Hanson <br />The City has an ordinance that requires new electrical services to be buried underground. There <br />is the need to upgrade the existing electrical service at 53 Woodlyn Avenue. The cost for <br />burying the upgraded service was quoted at $13,000 in comparison to $1,500 for an overhead <br />service. <br />The City's ordinance provides for exceptions. Given it is unlikely that power will ever be placed <br />underground in this area, staff feels an exception is merited in this case. However, should the <br />unexpected happen and it is necessary to bury this electrical service the attached agreement that <br />requires the tenant and /or property owner to be responsible for those costs at that time. The City <br />Engineer had emailed the background information to the Council prior to the drafting of this <br />agreement. <br />This agreement meets with the approval of both the tenant and owner of 53 Woodlyn Avenue. <br />We expect to have the signed agreement shortly. <br />Staff recommends approval of the 53 Woodlyn Avenue Power Line Agreement as attached. <br />1 <br />
