Hanson <br />During 1992 the City collected $60,416.59 in gambling expense tax or <br />3% of gross profits of the charities operating in the City. The <br />City's 1992 gambling expenses were $27,121.56, leaving a $33,295.03 <br />carry -over balance. <br />During 1992 the City had some one -time expenses associated with <br />gambling. These include the City Attorney's time in drafting the <br />gambling ordinance, cost of computer, and computer workstation. <br />Based on the amounts collected in 1992, as well as the one -time costs <br />associated with gambling enforcement, it is the recommendation of <br />City staff that for 1993 the 3% enforcement tax could be reduced to <br />2% <br />Should you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them at <br />Wednesday's meeting. <br />Page 28 <br />
