MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
FEBRUARY 11, 1993
Drabik suggested that the Commissioners review their
comp plans and identify areas they feel should be
addressed.
The Planner agreed and pointed out that the current
plan is now 14 years old. If there are portions of the
plan that are valid, those portions would be maintained
as part of an update.
DeLonais again mentioned the need for updating zoning
maps, and felt this was long overdue.
Garske asked if as part of updating the comp plan the
City would be holding meetings on proposed bike path
locations, etc. Garske felt this might get residents'
hopes up for these types of improvements, when, in
fact, they might not occur for a long time.
It was pointed out that the Park and Recreation
Commission has adopted a Park Master Plan which would
become a part of the City's comp plan.
The Planner pointed out that the comp plan would
identify land use and development issues and will
provide some priorities. With regard to park and trail
development, these items would be identified including
priorities giving the City something to focus its
development monies on.
Glanzer felt that the issue for the Commission this
evening was whether or not to recommend if updating the
comp plan should be included on the City's 10% capital
improvement listing.
The Planner reported that some of the issues the comp
plan would address include land use issues, economic
development, redevelopment strategies, code
enforcement, infrastructure needs, etc.
It was suggested that the members of the commission
review their comp plans in detail and be prepared to
discuss the matter further at the next meeting. After
that discussion, the Planning Commission can then
decide whether or not a workshop with the City Council
would be necessary.
Drabik recommended that the updating of the City's
Comprehensive Plan be added to the 10% Capital
Improvement listing.
Motion seconded by Keis.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
Page 8
Page 10
